Directed, not generated: the tech behind Polar Opposite

Polar Opposite is an AI video studio. It makes commercials, social ads, TikTok and Instagram videos and product videos for brands. Its line is "AI Video Production. Human Touch.", and that is the whole idea: AI does the heavy lifting, and people direct every frame. I am its Co-CTO.

What Polar Opposite does

The studio was founded by NYU Tisch alumni, and it works with brands in beauty, real estate, hospitality and healthcare. Clients pick a ready-made package or book a short call for custom work, and pay per project, with no retainer to sign.

Why "directed, not generated" matters

Anyone can type a prompt and get a clip. Most of those clips look like AI: hands go wrong, products change shape, and nothing feels like the brand. Polar Opposite treats AI as a camera crew, not a director. A person decides the shot, the look and the story, and nothing ships until a person signs off on it.

What I work on as Co-CTO

• The production pipeline: briefs, keyframes, clips and edits, with a human check at every step.
• The tools the team uses to review, approve and deliver work quickly.
• Picking which image and video models to use for which job, and swapping them as better ones arrive.
• Polar Engine, the studio's platform at brain.polaropposite.ai, which I build as its only developer.

What it means for a brand

Brands get video that looks like their brand, made fast enough to keep up with social media. The technology stays out of sight. What the client sees is a clip that is right the first time, because a person caught what was wrong before they ever saw it.
